Any medication in recent days is likely to produce some side
effects. These side effects may not occur in all and is possible
only in some cases. In fact Aricept is tolerated by several people.
In some cases there are mild side effects which do not require any
treatment or can be treated by the doctor.
In some cases nausea, vomiting and diarrhea were the most common
side effects. Side effects appeared to be less severe when the
dosage was increased slowly. The most common side effects were
dizziness, nausea, generalized pain, diarrhea, headache and
insomnia. Other side effects were loss of appetite, fatigue, muscle
cramps, vomiting, discoloration of the skin, abnormal dreams,
decrease in weight, depression, arthritis, fainting, tiredness and
frequent urination.
The other side effects that requires the immediate attention are
severe nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained weight loss,
stomach pain, changes in vision or balance, fainting spells,
nervousness or agitation, uncontrollable movements, difficulty in
passing urine, slow heartbeat, severe asthma, seizures, stomach
ulcers, allergic reactions such as rashes or itching in the skin,
swelling of the mouth or throat, wheezing or difficulty in
breathing.
There were also some other side effects that was observed during the
clinical trials. But it was difficult to explain whether these side
effects were due to the medication of Aricept or due to something
else. The side effects are bloating, chest pain, hot flashes,
increased sex drive, high blood pressure, gastrointestinal bleeding,
diabetes, hair loss, delusion, tremor, sore throat, irritability,
blurred vision, abnormal crying, middle ear infection and congestive
heart failures.
It is generally impossible for a doctor to know about the side
effects that will be produced in any case of treating with Aricept.
But in case of any side effects the case has to be reported to the
doctor immediately.
